Chen Rui works at her desk. She is 54 years old and works at a private tradiing company as an accountant. She retired in 2002 but still works privately to cover the gap between her pension and what she needs to survive living in Shanghai. China has a rapidly aging population, and is facing a pension problem that is equal to or even surpasses that of Western Europe or North America. Many Chinese citizens are becoming very worried about money as they are growing older, in many cases the money saved in the past doesn't buy much as China becomes more and more expensive. Retired people are beginning to look for more work to cover their expenses and give them any chance at having a savings.
