Xu Zhongliang stands at the entrance to Jin An Park. He is 54 years old, has a wife and one child and currently works as a security guard at a park in Shanghai. He formerly worked as a state-owned department store but was laid-off. The reason he still works is because he is worried about his future expenses as his son prepares to enter University, Mr. Xu is very worried about how he and his wife will cover their sons tutition fees. China has a rapidly aging population, and is facing a pension problem that is equal to or even surpasses that of Western Europe or North America. Many Chinese citizens are becoming very worried about money as they are growing older, in many cases the money saved in the past doesn't buy much as China becomes more and more expensive. Retired people are beginning to look for more work to cover their expenses and give them any chance at having a savings.
