On January 1st 2005 textile quotas that had governed the industry for thirty years expired resulting in a large surge in textile exports from China. When the dust settles it is predicted that China will account for almost 50% of worldís textile manufacturing market. With governments around the world threatening to place tariffs and trade restrictions on Chinaís textile exports because of the Chinese governments refusal to adjust its currency and cheap manufacturing labour; China seems to be taking the threats in stride as textile production around the country continue to increase month on month.
