A woman walks through an inner courtyard of a museum, inside the city walls of Pingyao in central China's Shanxi province. Pingyao has a history of being one of the first financial centers in China and it was quick to prosper in the Qing Dynasty. Today it is well known for its 12m high city walls, its 72 watchtowers and its 4m wide moat which all still exist in much of their original form.
