Von Gerkan looks up to inspect his Maritime Museum in the Von Gerkan new town of Lingang, a suburb of Shanghai. Lingang is a completely man made city designed by Von Gerkan and his partners which is slated to be a maritime city, meaning that all industries and services needed for the shipping and container industry would be there. Now the city is planning for 800,000 residents by the time of completion.
